Lisa Morrisseau

Keewaywin, Ontario

I am the youngest child of Norval Morrisseau and Harriet Kakegamic. I considered Red Lake my home until moving to Thunderbay and finally to Keewaywin, Ontario.

Although I paint a little, my full occupation is working for the Band Office in Keewaywin. We live in a remote part of Ontario. For most of the year you have to fly in. During the winter an ice road is constructed.

In the past year Victoria, my sister, and I were invited to Ottawa to unveil a painting by my father in Rideau Hall.

I am pleased that the true family of Norval Morrisseau is now recognized as directly in line with the Anishanabe through my father to the Native People of Canada - that is where we belong.
