Keewaywin, Ontario

If you saw the picture in The Globe and Mail newspaper when my father first arrived in Toronto for his first exhibition with Jack Pollock in the early sixties. My mother and father are smiling, my younger brother, Pierre, is the child wrapped in a blanket. I am the smiling girl looking right out at you.

I was brought up in Red Lake, Ontario where my father worked in the mine in Cochenour and I went to school. My memories of my father are of fun and painting. He was always painting.

My family has always remained close. Four of the family now live in Keewaywin, Ontario.

We would like to express our thanks to Michelle Alderton and the Red Lake Heritage Center Project that honoured Norval Morrisseau and his family. I would also like to thank Michaelle Jean, the Governor General of Canada for her recognition in Rideau Hall by placing Norval Morrisseau's work before the Canadian People.
